Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks has made protecting the environment a top priority.
Monroe County's commitment to becoming a
more sustainable community by "going green" includes GreenMonroe.org, a website to help educate the County, residents and businesses save energy costs and adopt
renewable energy sources.
The GreenMonroe initiative in Monroe County is part of County Executive Maggie Brooks’ commitment to creating jobs, growing our local economy, and preserving
our region’s natural resources. Included in the Mission is to provide a resource for the County to access the growing available pool of assistance funding in
achieving the following:
Position Monroe County to serve as New York State’s leader in the creation, usage and distribution of
renewable energy resources
Reduce the per-facility/home use of non-renewable sources of energy through the efficient and
appropriate use of all energy
Promote the conservation of depleting energy resources and the development of local, renewable
resources to ensure that the adequate supply will be available to County residents and businesses at a
reasonable cost
Establish the infrastructure necessary to ensure a strong, stable energy environment that will nurture
economic growth throughout the County
