Compare Income Eligibility

Most Monroe County households are eligible for a free or reduced cost residential energy audit, through the GREEN JOBS GREEN NEW YORK program.

A free energy audit is available for Monroe County residents with annual household income less than 200 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI).

The GJGNY program is administered by NYSERDA (New York State Energy Research and Development Authority). Please visit NYSERDA's program website for more information on the program's free/reduced cost energy audit and financing progrm.

The HPwES program offers free or reduced cost home energy assessment conducted by a accredited Home Performance Contractor. The contractor works with the homeowner to select energy projects to improve the home. HPwES also offers financing options to pay for the projects.

Choose a Contractor that are trained and certified to take a "whole-house" approach when identifying comfort, safety and energy efficiency improvements for your home.

To encourage customers to buy energy efficient products, ENERGY STAR partners occasionally sponsor special offers, such as sales tax exemptions or credits, or rebates on qualified products. Partners also occasionally sponsor recycling incentives for the proper disposal of old products.

An “Green Mortgage" or Energy Efficient Mortgage (EEM) is a mortgage that credits a home's energy efficiency in the mortgage itself. EEMs give borrowers the opportunity to finance cost-effective, energy-saving measures as part of a single mortgage and stretch debt-to-income qualifying ratios on loans thereby allowing borrowers to qualify for a larger loan amount and a better, more energy-efficient home.

To get an EEM a borrower typically has to have a home energy rater conduct a home energy rating before financing is approved. This rating verifies for the lender that the home is energy-efficient.
